As a final project for MAE4540: Spacecraft Propulsion, my task was to work as a team (3 students) to propose a design improvement in the field of spacecraft propulsion systems. We selected a spacecraft mission or architecture in which the propulsion system is critical to achieving the mission goals, such as Hayabusa 2. We brainstormed one or more ways in which a change to the propulsion system could improve the mission outcome or lead to entirely new capabilities on orbit, and proposed an improvement to the mission with a new electric propulsion method.
